21F/Overcast sky/light snowfall/calm Due to poor visibility, we chose to ride in the valley bottom trees. We noticed collapsing when more than one sled pulled up to a spot. Stepping off sleds, we were barely supported by the crust, and often we punched through to facets near the ground. We dug a pit at ~2200' on a south aspect. We located 8-12mm surface hoar buried 30cm deep. Our tests did not show propagation on the SH, but in facets under the crust. CT23 sudden collapse & PST23 down 45cm in 2mm facets. The snowpack structure was very similar to that found in the Tiekel Trees the day before.
