Little Odyssey, obscured visibility, 30F, moderate southeast wind, localized drifting snow We could step on the wind affected storm snow and get it to fail as a soft to moderate hard slab 10-30cm deep, both within the storm snow and just above the rain crust. The rain crust formed from the 12/3-6 storm rain line became breakable and not as strong of an ice lens above 3200'. With on-the-go hand shears and tests, we noticed lots of snowpack and storm depth variability due to wind affect We chose conservative routes, avoiding wind loaded slopes. Due to poor visibility and early season coverage, we skied cautiously.

We observed a D1 pocket of windloaded cornice that had naturally pulled out of a SW facing rock outcropping.
