Great day at the pass with great weather and great snow in some areas. Other areas had been wind blown. Lots of whumphing, some recent avalanches, and found buried surface hoar and depth hoar. More details below.

Snowpack

Dug in fat area, HS200cm. 20-40cm of new snow sitting on bed of facets (NSF), with 3mm decomposing surface hoar layer in it (down 42cm). Moderately easy shears on this SH layer, and ECTN22. (See pit profile)

Also dug in a thin area, HS100cm. Found layer of 4F 3mm facets below a crust down 30cm. Also, between the Nov 17 crust and ground was fist-hard chained depth hoar cups, 6-9mm. Both facet layers were about 10cm thick.
