Quick report

It’s giving onigiri-from-a-gas-station, where’s-the-onsen out there right now. Headed out curious about whether half the snowpack came from this last storm, and what that meant for stability. We dug at 6000ft on a NNW slope; total snow depth was 190cm with snow from this storm taking up the upper 80cm above a nice crust. We saw failure with hard force in our compression test, but no propagation (CT28 Q3 on the storm interface, vague ECTNs). Steeper aspects above where we skied showed signs of small loose dry, and we saw some of the same across the way on steeper, solar aspects. We kept angles moderate and traveled one at a time, and stepped out a bit later onto steeper slopes with no issues. Skies were patchy but mostly overcast, temps below freezing, and winds still somehow not here.
