Quick report
Went for a jaunt in the convict area to get an idea of new snow totals and if /to what degree winds have been moving it around
- Coverage is limited, particularly at lower elevations.
- Increased winds overnight definitely moved some snow around. Several areas with fresh snow yesterday had been stripped at upper elevations. And very little loose snow was available for transport.
- The best way to describe our experience today would be to say we found thin strips of soft snow in a sea of old crusts.
- Ski crampons would have been a good idea today.
- Increasing cloud cover led to some greenhousing today by midday. Increasing winds may have limited the damage. While we did not see any loose wet activity, we did note several fans of rollerballs on the east face of Mono Jim on our exit that were not present on our way up this morning.
- No signs of windslab instabilities were noted on our tour today. Obvious catchment areas were either dry ground or stripped to old snow.

Leaving the car around 8:30 am we had partly cloudy skies, calm winds, and warm temperatures. Cloud cover increased quickly; by 11 or so, I would call things overcast. Some greenhouseing was noted, but increasing winds kept surface snow from becoming too soft by the time we made our descent at 1200
