Quick report

Traveled to the Brooks and Angle weather stations to clear interval boards and reset SWE buckets.

Brooks HS: 35.5” Interval: 17” SWE: 3.2”. This station was last cleared on 12/27/24.

Angle HS: 40” Interval: 7.5” SWE: 0.7”. This station was last cleared on 01/06/2025.

While at the Brooks weather station, we rode up to Barbers Point to dig on a north aspect. The total height of the snowpack at this location was 110cm with the bottom 20cm of the snowpack being fist hard facets with a stiff 1F slab on top. Snowpit tests yielded an ECTP 22 breaking within the basal facet layer indicating the probability of triggering a large avalanche still exists. East of the divide, winds were moderate from the NW with snowfall rates of about 1-2 inches per hour. Temperatures were cold with a high of 17F at the Moccasin Basin Parking Area. Moving to the west side of the Continental Divide, snowfall and wind significantly decreased. Light precipitation was limited to the morning with winds light from the NW. There was significantly less blowing snow on the west side of the divide. Temperatures were similar to the east side.
