I dug two pits in the Silver Fork Meadows today to compare a variety of the Solstice Crust. All aspects have it to some degree up to around 10,000 feet. Slopes that get any sun, including those east-facing have a thicker sun or temperature crust that formed on 12/21 from warming. Northeast, north and northwest-facing slopes have the rime crust variety. I don't know which is more concerning at this point but suffice to say these crusts will complicate matters as they are now buried under today's one to three inches of snow.
Pit 1 is a northeast aspect and Pit 2 is an east aspect both at 9500 feet.
