Out for an AIARE class and we were all parked and got off and felt the snow collapse a bit. We dug a pit for our AIARE class and noticed the different layers and did an extended column test and had fractures initiate but did not propagate across the full column on the CTH test. Where the issue can be is the new snow sitting on top of the melt freeze snow and also noticed a layer of ice further down that created another layer.
