- <p>Recent avalanches confined to old Wet Loose. Temperatures spike today with 9000 feet highs hitting the mid to upper 40's. The sun continues to obviously gain more strength each day as we move through March, and the snowpack is progressing very well through it's spring transition. </p>

- <p>Unseasonably warm temperatures continue to keep this problem an issue to have concern for when traveling in the afternoon hours. Though many slopes have seen significant wet activity, the potential for the off aspects is still a concern. </p> <p>Warm temperatures may continue to undermine many of the larger overhanging Cornices out there. As well, any areas with terrain configurations that may contribute to Glide Avalanche potential remain suspect. </p> <p> </p> <p>Obviously all of these problems (besides the potential for Glide Avalanches) are easily dealt with as long as you make sure you get off of and out from under any steep slopes during the intense hours that exhibit daytime heating. </p>
Snow at and above 10,000 more dense and settled than what was experienced yesterday in elevation bands between 9800 and 9300. Still descent riding in the old settled cold snow on NNW-N- NNE aspects with slope angles 25 degrees and greater. Stout m/f crust in place in the early am and it softened at a nice slow rate allowing for great simulated corn riding beginning on the easterly aspects and following the sun around to the westerlies. When able to find slopes without scars from folks riding too late in the day, and or snow machine activity, the snow surface is very smooth and friendly. Extensive Wet Loose cycle on all steep southerly facing terrain that appeared to have been active at least two days prior. Minimal avalanche activity observed on the shady steep aspects from the latest round of snow from last weekend. Yesterdays Strong Winds did not have much effect on the steep northerly aspects ridden today, though the exposed ridge lines had stout wind crusts. No roller balls obvserved on sunny aspects as late as 1300 hours when departing.
