Hiked up the Tuckerman Ravine trail. At about 0.8miles the trail turned to snow which made it easier to hike. The hike to the ravine floor from Hermit Lake was a little problematic as I sank up to my knees in spots. I was only wearing micro spikes. It had been sunny until I arrived in the ravine when some clouds moved in. I went up the left gully as the center head wall was flowing with water and large ice chunks were below it. I stayed off the right gully as the lines looked too thin for me. I made the mistake of climbing too close to a massive rock on the south side of the left gully and I broke through a crevasse with one foot. I was able to catch myself and stop from falling in. It was very deep and I could hear water running far below. I decided that was enough and skied down from 3/4 up. That was enough for me so I headed back. The ski trail was mad sketchy and only good for about a third of the way down with several portages across water. A great day.

Variable weather with sun, fog and no wind.
Snowpack
Snowpack in the ravine was soft making for good turns. I observed cracks and fissures in the snowpack likely attributed to the recent rainfall.
