Quick report
A softening snowpack was observed at the south fork of Fox's Stairs on Mt. Carrigain, though the steepest sections remained mostly in the shade and stayed firm for most of the afternoon. During a morning bushwhack on Mt. Lowell, I was able to examine the slide across the notch and noticed terrain shading between 9-11am. Arriving at the slide mid-day, I was getting 10-12cm of boot penetration at lower elevations that had sun exposure. Starting at 2,900 ft., the dominant surface was 5-7cm of moist snow on top of the icy rain crust. Near the top there were roller balls coming mostly from the right side of the gully.
