Mavericks + Ullrs

Another day in the snow globe, albiet today it was shaken up quite hard with steady winds from the SW. Snow was steady and wind was transporting it consistently. The 3/20 layer still warrants particular attention as our storm, and height of snow/water weight continues to grow. That in combination from the steady winds is stressing our current snowpack - especially in the top meter.  While we've been speaking about the 3/20 layer, I've also noticed the new/old interface from 3/29 to be the bed surface for our windslabs in the middle and upper elevations. However, around 7,000'-8,000' I've been seeing it crack and break below it - specifically where the layer is brittle. If we continue to receive more snow/and water weight at the lower bands of the middle elevations this has the potential to become reactive in the next day or two.

Wind slab avalanches were failing above the new/old interface of 3/29. The exposed middle ribs of Maverick were slabbing up, and would break - but the lower slope angles arrested them quickly. Cracking observed on most aspects while skinning where the HN was deep. HN was around 40-50cm depending on the exposure to wind on the SE and E, N aspects towards Snow Devil and Ullrs was around 60cm. Of note, cracking was also occuring with CTV's from pole pits between 7,000-8,000' below the 3/29 MFcr - see below photo.
