Quick report

Steeper east and southest aspects already heating up on our skin up around 9am. Hard melt freeze  crust down low but softening by 8000 feet. Numerous rollerballs and pinwheels and wet loose activity from the recent warm up on solar aspects. Upper elevation northeast and north aspects remain dry powder.

Dug on a southeast aspect at 9000 feet. December drought layer down 26 inches (65 cm) and about 40 inches (1 meter) down toward the top of Wimpy's.

At 9000' SE:

There was moisture throughout the whole snowpack, including the facets below the January slab. That said, there is a significant hardness change (pencil slab over 4 finger minus facets) at the weak layer interface.

Technically, a PST score of 45/100 (less than 50%) by definition still indicates propensity to propagate, but the trend in pits lately has been one of increasing strength. The longer PST was done out of curiousity and was not a particularly smooth cut which should be factored in to how the results are interpreted.
