Dunderburg Meadows

Walked on foot by Kavanaugh Ridge Road, towards Snow Lake and N side of Dunderburg Pk. Coverage looks better from afar. Very little snow covering rock ATL, with high amounts of wind stripping. The most continuous coverage exists on either patches of summer snow or NE aspects near treeline with features to support wind drifts. Almost all slopes are not conducive to downhill travel. Limited obs from upper elevation slopes as travel was un-pleasant with shallow snow over rocks. Main hazard remains low coverage, our team has not travelled downhill on skis this season as injury risk remains too high. Spx Summary: Less snow than observations to the west of VA Lakes, would be difficult to find any locations with more than 40cm of snow even in wind drifts. Bad structure where snow is continuous and planar (very isolated) where about 20cm of FC/DH are capped by a MFcr and a 10cm - 20cm wind effected slab. Cracking and collapsing observed but in very limited pockets 10' by 10' max from foot pen. Size limited by coverage for now. Most slopes still have abundant hazards sticking out.
