We had an enemy working against us today, and it was water. We tried to head up to Mount Beadnell to check on the new snow that fell last night, but unfortunately there is a creek that stops your progess from the Granite Main right now. From where we could get to, the state of the snow BTL is that our latest storm fell mixed rain and snow. This has left us with a 1cm rain crust that is sandwiched between layers of moist to wet snow. At 600m there was about 5cm of new snow on this crust that was actively pinwheeling in the rainy weather. It is noticable how much the snowpack has decreased in this past weekend of warm wet weather, many hazards are out again and the wet snow can run to ground on steep cutbanks.
