Today we did some sled skiing in the Nordstrom area North of Sparwood. We spent some time digging around in the snow and dug profiles in a couple of spots. One on an east aspect at 2240m and another a little lower on a southeast-facing slope. We identified both the Dec 21 and Dec 08 Mfcr layers but had no significant test results. The snow was decent for our ski down on a sheltered slope. Temperatures were around -6 in the alpine and winds were light from the SW. The last storm really helped with coverage in this area that is typically fairly shallow. Average snowpack depths from 70 - 120cm We have our fingers crossed for the next storm.
