Quick Observation
Great early season turns on the snowmobile! Was in this area prior to saturdays storm and saw up to 20mm surface hoar developed on protected N-E aspects. Returning after the storm we saw evidence of significant cornice growth on the same aspects, and natural cornice failures triggering storm slabs below. These avalanches had abnormally long run lengths considering their lesser mass. Foot pen of 15-30cm depending on wind affect. Firm snowmobiling, and punchy/hollow in bushy areas Still some delicate new cornices hanging out up high, give them space!
Avalanche Information
Observed few days old natural cornice failure in both open slide paths triggering up to size 1.5 storm slab in both paths. Assuming the occurrence happened on Saturday during the storm event based on wind sifting and coverage of the debris.
