We found a breakable ~4 cm melt-freeze crust complex (two melt-freeze crusts glued together by a thin ice layer) buried by 5 cm new snow up to at least 1900 m in the Big Bend area. HS ~70 cm at 1900m. The crust and old avy debris made for engaging skiing, and I'd recommend staying away from lower elevation zones until this layer is buried. Skiing at higher elevations on Hilda was excellent.
