Quick report
Currently, we are in good shape to receive a large amount of snow forecasted for Friday evening into Saturday night. I haven't observed a weak snowpack structure in my travels thus far in the Wallowas. This means a lack of weak snow near the bottom of the snowpack will not result in large avalanches that could release at the ground.

The weather was nicer than forecasted with light winds, snow flurries, and mild temperatures.
Snowpack
I dug my snowpit on a North Aspect at 7,500' on Shelter Ridge. The height of snow was 4' or 120cm, at this location, but slopes exposed to the wind had been previously stripped down to a much thinner snowpack. My snowpit structure was good, with a strong right-side-up snowpack. I didn't have any failures in my two snowpack tests.
