Quick report
Limited signs of instabilities outside of our test results. Travel was surprisingly good relative to current conditions. We were able to see the remnants of an older but larger avalanche S/E of Elephants Back. We experienced no informal snow instabilities throughout our tour.

Snowpack
We dug a pit on a N aspect, 25° slope at 8,440'. The snowpack in this area is gaining strength. Instabilities are becoming more difficult to trigger, although not wholly impossible. We were still able to produce unstable results on the Jan 2 layer. See pit for more details. Snow conditions ranged from wet surface snow, wind scour, rain crusts and weak melt freeze crusts.
