As forecasted, challenging traveling conditions with significant hard crust present in most locations. South facing sunny aspects started softening a bit after 12pm, but froze solid again quickly once out of the sun. Significant surface hoar present on both low and high elevations. Dug pit up on Snow Lake Divide at 4500ft, NE aspect. Snow depth around 310cm, overlaying snow ~10cm 4f starting to facet, above 5-10cm pencil crust (1/10 interface). 30+cm of consolidated 1f rounds below. Good day to get out in the sun!
