Made the trek up to Lappi Lake to investigate conditions. More snow in the valley on the trail than anticipated made the entry and exit more pleasurable than normal. Observed whumpfing as we entered the valley from 6200 - 6600 feet on some wind slabs. Wind was swirling all around, it was hard to get a read of where it was predominately coming from - winds were still to gusty, not sustained. We observed cracking in some 4in wind slab from 8000-8200 feet while putting in kick turns. It snowed all day, and had clearly snowed that night, up to 8 in of new cold, dry, light snow. We dug a pit at 7800 feet on an eastern aspect, found 185cm of snow, ECTX. Shovel Shear broke at 90cm but the break was broken up. Snow skied incredibly well.
