Back on up LJ to see what the new snow was doing. I had hopes of poking into the presidential gully but after digging a couple of snowpits I decided to keep it mellow. The new snow felt right side up. I dug two pits on E and SE aspects, both at about 8,300', and got propagating results on the same layer in both, down 50 cm on a facet/crust combo. ECTP 21 in the SE, 22 and 27 in the E. It is a meaty slab, and each time it popped I could easily shovel shear the slab off of the crust in one big chunk. Hard to gauge snow depth when glassing from miles away but it seems possible that this is layer that the Heavenly Twin natural went on. The wind felt average up high today, but some mountains to the SW were flagging in what looked like a non-average way.

I glassed a crown on the north side of the southern Heavenly twin from summit ridge of Lil Jo this evening. Hard saying when it went, but it looks like a thick crown. 8,300', N, 35-34 degrees.
