Toured with WCMAF Level 1 students at Lolo Pass, observed whumpfing, cracking, point releases, roller balls, and rain runnels during the day. Pit tests all resulted in ECTP22 @ 45cm on buried surface hoar (East aspect @ 5400'). Snowpack was moist to the ground with heavy saturation in the top 10cm. Little rain throughout the day, then became heavier when returning to the Visitor Center around 4:30pm. We made conservative terrain choices, focused on learning avalanche fundamentals, and observed conditions.
