While traveling through the cat area we experienced tranquil weather and warming of the snow pack on solar aspects. Rare to have such a bluebird day!
Avalanche
Snow observation team went out to run mitigation in the chutes on peak 2 of the cat area. Intentionally ski cut and triggered multiple small D1 R1 wind slab avalanches at approximately 15 CM. Wind slabs ran on either buried surface hoar or solar melt freeze layer depending on aspect. We observed no signs of instability deeper in the snowpack during our mitigation.
