Snowpack
We went out looking for some soft snow on northerly aspects today. We rode from Little Truckee Summit out to near Banta Saddle. Below treeline northerly aspects have around 6'' of soft near surface faceted surface snow with good travel conditions. We have been monitoring the upper snowpack with the near surface facets along with faceted snow between some of the rain crusts in the upper snowpack. These facets continue to be weak, but have not been showing unstable snowpack test results at this point. Snow coverage remains good on northerly aspects throughout this area down to below 7000'. Snow coverage from LTS trailhead is thin with lots of exposed pavement, rocks, and dirt.
