Quick report
We observed strong W-SW winds in exposed areas today and 1-2" of new snow on Slide Mountain. We saw signs of wind transport of new snow and signs of instability on small test slopes, however there was not yet enough snow to create any avalanche concerns in this area. Snow showers alternated with periods of sunshine throughout the morning. New snow rested on a variety of surfaces, soft snow, and slick firm crusts, but overall ski quality was better than anticipated. We observed signs of wind slab formation on a small test slope. The top 2" of new snow was poorly bonded to slick crust underneath.
