Quick report

Dug a pit at 9400 ft on a NW aspect in gladed terrain just outside Mt. Rose Ski Area. Snowpack stability tests of a CT2 and an ECTP3 (resistant planar) on a layer 10cm down. My crystal ID is not great but it looked like a layer of either buried surface hoar (observed on 11/24) or near surface facets. Although the fracture propagated, there was not a cohesive slab on top of the weak layer--the snow broke apart in multiple places when I pulled it off. Thought this layer was interesting enough to mention, unsure how widespread it is. Thanks so much for all you do
