Headed up Sahale on Friday afternoon for a quick overnight. Beautiful day with good travel conditions. Continuous snow on the Cascade River Road past Boston basin trailhead with easy travel directly up the valley to Cascade pass. For the most part, snow surfaces were extremely wind affected and firm, although sun exposed aspects were softening up by the afternoon, with a few point releases off of rocks and trees. It was quite windy at and below Cascade pass, but above the pass heading up towards Sahale Arm, it was quite calm. Always interesting how the terrain in this area makes for a dramatic differences in wind just around the corner. Clouds came in after around 5:00 p.m. for a fairly overcast sunset, cool and windy overnight. It was clearer this morning, with some nice light on the mountains, but by 9:30 or so the highest summits were already shrouded in low clouds as a high overcast built.
