Quick Observation

Great day of riding up Coal Creek with 25cm of dense 4F new storm snow over a series of crusts. We only got as high as 1900m and noticed the higher we were the better and deeper the riding got. At 1600m the new snow was denser and there was only 15cm over the old crust. It snowed about 5cm throughout the day of mostly graupel showers. The new snow seemed pretty well bonded to the old crust surfaces and was not reactive in extended column snowpack tests. Total snow amounts on north facing slopes at 1900m was 160cm.
