Quick Observation
Today we skied at Halcyon. There have been Strong winds from all directions over the previous few days that have created wind slabs well into treeline on all aspects. There was some soft snow in sheltered areas but mostly wind slabs in various forms of hardness. Ski quality in general was poor. We dug a snow pit at 1100M. In testing, we were unable to produce propagating results in an extended column test and produced moderate results in a compression test. The compression test failure was on a layer of facets and decomposing fragments down 30 cm from the snow surface. We did not venture into the alpine as the ski quality looked poor and the wind was blowing strong from the north. We did not observe any avalanches.
