Quartz 2 (Sunshine)

Toured up to Quartz 2 in the Sunshine b-country. Very good early season conditions. Some thin spots on the way up Quartz 1 but easily workable. From the col, we skinned and boot packed our way to the summit of Quartz 2. No signs of instabilities noted during the day. HS was about 110cm near the ridge. Surface was a combo of HS and facetted snow. We skied the steep convex role (probably somewhere between 40’-42’) and had some minor point releases (see pic - they were fairly slow and didn’t have much mass either). Quite supportive in the meadows with ski pen of about 10cm made for very fast travel.
