Kokanee Glacier Cabin

Small slabby slides observed on micro features throughout the day.

We were ski cutting any steep or convex slope. The slide triggered 2m below the ski cut and propagated 30m wide very quickly.

The Feb 1st surface hoar layer had not been reactive during the previous days of skiing. However 11cm of new snow overnight accompanied by warming temps (-3) made the storm snow consolidate into a slab on this day.
