Hogs Back, Commonwealth circuit

At 2500m on the north aspect between Commonwealth Peak and Pigs Tail col there is about 40cm of snow sitting on a facet layer. Recent winds have turned the snow above this layer into soft wind slab. Winds were fairly strong trending to out of the north through out the day. Fast travel conditions in and out. Ski quality was decent We noted a significant size 2 avalanche off of the SE aspect of Smutwood peak (see pic).
