Travelled on all aspects today up to 1600m.There were no signs of instability and felt comfortable stepping out into steeper and more exposed terrain. It was pretty thin snow below 1200m, with boot-top skiing on a supportive crust that covered most early-season hazards above 1300m.
West aspect at 1500m, the snowpack was 140-170cm. Widespread surface hoar, even on ridgetops and lower angle southerly terrain.
