Batmans Chute on Mt Fernie. Conditions on skin up were good, little signs of instability within the trees and open spaces and fresh snow as we ascended higher. 8-12 cm of fresh snow layer on top of melt freeze crust providing a very slick surface for the slab. First skier triggered the slab after the first 10 turns of so, wet loose snow with a 12m wide crown. Slide was around 700m long. We continued gently down skiers right, ski cut and triggering several smaller size 1 avalanches. Overlaying snow was extremely unstable and slid easily on crust. We descended back through dense trees on skiers right to fairy creek road to avoid the risk of triggering more.
