Wimpies

I was curious to see how much damage was occurring from the steady NE winds today, and how reactive the wind slabs were atop the latest interface, in addition to the 3/20 persistent weak layer. The standard skin track for Wimpies - which was scoured from the previous storm and steady SW winds was now loaded and reactive to ski cuts while skinning up. I dug at 9,584' on a SE slope and didn't get exciting results - ECTN 23, down 45cm on the new old interface. I couldn't get the 3/20 layer to react here. Though yesterday's report of the natural near Taylor still gives me pause on the 3/20 layer, it should be investigated further throughout the range. Exposed terrain was getting slabbed and the skin track was raised from the unusual wind direction - creating slabby and spotty ski conditions in open terrain. See the sand-sculpted photo below. 

Cracking was observed from steady NE winds. One collapse while skinning along the ridge that separates Wimpies and Albright while atop a large wind whale.
