Wind slab, cornice formations above steeper E, SE facing aspects that drain into Crystal Creek We ski cut above a very steep 35-40° line/chute we were considering skiing that drains into Crystal Creek at the top, no results, but opted to ski more conservative, anchored terrain due to uncertainty of snow coverage on the steeper, full commitment part of the chute (worried it could be very shallow and unpredictable in the steeper, rockiest part). We skied anchored, open treed (bush) terrain, into Crystal and Cascadilla Creeks, no signs of instability between 5-7000 feet. Non solar affected snow up high skis great! Solar impacted slopes are developing surface hoar and a crust layer that currently is fairly easily breakable at 6500-7000' 2-4" of snow at highway.. 30+" of snow up high. N facing holding significantly more than S facing as you climb. 6000' is an average elevation to be above for good skiing right now.
