Intentionally triggered storm slab avalanche with 1m crown below on N facing slope below treeline as above. The snow was also setting up throughout the day and becoming a more cohesive slab. Also, as the day progressed the snow was becoming upside down with heavier snow on top of light. With the amount of new snow right now the slope angle necessary to have enough speed to ski is approximating a slope angle steep enough to slide. Tomorrow is probably a good day to steer clear of little AK and the chutes until this layer heals. A test roll over there failed on the same layer and while I didn’t poke into the chute itself, I suspect the slab will be reactive there as well.

Intentional skier triggered R2D2 storm slab with a 80-100cm tall crown that propagated about 75-100’ and ran 150-200 vertical feet. The slope was a 40 degree convex roll below treeline at 6800’, and the slide ran on the widespread old crust. I did not see a near crust facet, but it’s possible there was a thin layer. Knowing that this slope can slide especially in larger storm cycles, I made a hard stop just above the suspect roll. After the slope slid, I performed a compression test, which failed on isolation.
