Quick report
Skinned the cog to the summit. Shockingly little snow above Jacob's Ladder given the amount that fell two days prior. Lots of ice patches. Ski crampons would have made a couple spots better but not necessary. Headed over to the East Snowfields and found textured windboard that was difficult to break through. We did not observe any signs of instability during our run although towards the bottom the snow began to get sticky from sun exposure (10:45am). We skinned back up and over to Burt Ravine. The top half was hard wind affected snow with no signs of instability and much shallower than it appeared- some rocks were hit beneath the skis. About halfway down the snow started to get deeper and some hand shears revealed soft fluffy snow beneath 2-6cms of wind slab in isolated areas. The slabs broke apart into small (<1sq ft) chunks below our feet and the minimal sluff was easy to manage as the lower layers did not become entrained. We skied down to above the final choke and then skinned out and up to the cog and descended to the car.
