Observation: Kessler Peak

Cold start to the day, with light NE winds at the trail head.

As we ascend in elevation, winds continued to ramp up, and blow more easterly, with moderate erratic gusts. Very interesting to see the wind blow in the opposite direction we normally see in the Wasatch. Early on we knew to stay lower and as sheltered as possible. After climbing 3/4 of the route, we decided not to ascend any higher, as you could tell and feel the wind slabs building. Although the wind slabs were still soft, the cracking and collapsing were signs enough to not push it. We still enjoyed good powder on the north facing aspect.
