Went for a walk out to the Mint Glacier to avoid the wind on the peninsula. Throughout the day, primarily ovc skies, with light to moderate winds out of the E in higher terrain. Skis on at 4k. Approximately 5-8cm of new snow from earlier in the week on a supportable melt freeze crust. Around 20-30cms of HS at the hut. Approaching the glacier, snow surfaces variable, with windward aspects stripped to the crust, and lee slopes containing reactive wind transported snow. On the ice, found a surprising deep HS of 60-90cms. Primary hazard remains early season conditions.
