BWRA

Yesterday we toured the BWRA to see if any wet loose avalanche activity was occurring. Warm temperatures and a strong mid-April sun were joined by blustery SW winds.  There was no surface refreeze the night before and surface snow remained soft, as the day progressed boot pen and ski pen on the snowmobiles increased due to the increasing solar input and warming temps but due to the cooling effects of the wind we did not see any wet loose avalanche activity. A few test slopes were unreactive to our slope cuts. Wind speeds are forecasted to decrease as we head into the weekend which will result in the snow surface being more susceptible to the spring warming trends.

We saw roller balls which were most likely from recent warm days. Winds today kept the snow surface cooler than recent days.
