Avalanche Information

On the skin track up to the Peregrine/Frodo col (up the North Side from the upper lake), there was a large settlement and the slope partially failed on us. I was setting the skin track and trying to choose a mellow line. Unfortunately my partner and I didn't space out while climbing the last steep section to the col. Near the top there was a settlement. Very shortly after the slope failed. I tried to stop myself but was unable to. My partner, who was about 10m below me, and I got swept down about 10-20m by the avalanche. It happened in slow motion and we were only in snow up to our thighs. We were both able to get out by ourselves. There were no injuries. We had skied a North facing slope in the same bowl that this slope was in but it was less wind affected (i.e. not a col). Given the nature of the snow and conditions we should have stayed away from the col or accessed one from a different angle to evaluate. Later on in the trip we were hearing whumpfing on flat and mellow (~20degree) slopes that were in the full sun. No other avalanches were seen or triggered.
