- <p>On an east facing slope at 10200' we were not able to impact the PWL with the sun crust that formed during out "big warm" a few weeks ago. We dug two pits, got ECT X on the first and ECT P 23 on the second. The second pit was the result we decided to go with, but we still were not able to impact the PWL with that pit. All of the new snow we recieved is sitting on this really intense sun crust thats about 5cm thick with a small 1cm surface hoar layer on top.</p> <p>We found 50cm of facets at the base of our pit. We were unable to impact the facets layer with the sun crust on a E facing slope, although I imagine it would be easy to impact this layer if you moved around the compass to the North where the sun crust would be thinner or non-existant.</p>
