Quick report
About 3-4” of moderate density snow has accumulated since Friday up on Angle Mtn. Snowfall amounts are fairly consistent between the parking lot (8,600’) and summit (10,200’). The new snow is sitting on crusts of variable thickness on all aspects. Little slab exists in the recent snowfall, except for in wind affected areas which were isolated to upper elevation ridgelines. We did not observe any recent natural activity in steep terrain at 10,000’. Conditions were windier at the top of the pass. Notable drifting was observed, and snowfall totals were closer to 5-6”.
I was surprised to feel a crust beneath the new snow upon skiing onto a north facing slope at 10K. This was notable because I have skied this slope multiple times over the year and haven’t observed any melt-freeze crust formation. It appears that the sun angle has now gotten high enough to affect slopes that face due north. This is worth remembering because many north facing slopes haven’t experienced a proper wet shed yet. Wet avalanche problems will become more of an issue on northerlies as skies clear and the sun angle continues to creep higher.

Cold temps and snow showers (up to S-1). Light ridgetop breeze out of the northwest. About an inch of new snow accumulated during the several hours that we spent in the field.
