Today we went to Little Joe and enjoyed a warm, bluebird day. There was a light southerly breeze. Sunny slopes have seen warming and sun affect over the past week. We saw several size 1 loose wet avalanches from steep, rocky, sunny slopes. We found a melt-freeze crust at the surface on these sunny slopes which was supportive to skis. The top couple of centimeters softened by midday and made for good corn skiing. At treeline and above there are still a few areas where cold snow remains, these are sheltered, shady slopes.
