Originally we headed for the more common Cathedral Glades area but on approach we quickly realized that the snow was terrible (ice crust on surface). We kept heading up and around 2000m the new snow started to cover up the crust and by 2100m there was over a foot of new snow over the crust that offered some good skiing. To avoid the crusty tree skiing on exit we traversed over to the Narao Lakes slide paths, which had all released during the storm, and skied along the skier's left path for an easy, and almost enjoyable at times, route back to the Lake O'Hara Road.
