The snowpack in this zone was thin and exhibited widespread faceting throughout much of its depth. The slab has significantly weakened, while the basal facets appear relatively non-problematic at this time. However, the upper snowpack could become a concern with the arrival of the incoming storm.

Snowpack
The snowpack exhibited significant faceting in the upper layers and signs of faceting within the lower slab. The total snowpack depth ranged from 16 to 20 inches (40 to 50 cm) in the mid-elevation band. A thin, barely perceptible rain crust was present above 7,600 feet. Basal facets formed a distinct layer approximately 3 inches (8 cm) thick at the bottom of the snowpack with a 4F decomposing slab above it. Extended Column Tests (ECTs) conducted on large columns showed no propagation (ECTX) in two repeated trials. No surface hoar was observed above the valley floor.
