Quick report
Today: From our limited observations, it seems like it would be unlikely to trigger avalanches in the current snowpack. The most notable thing we observed was the very weak faceted surface snow on aspects that face NW-N-E. Future: I can't help but to already start imagining what the snowpack will look like once we add a load onto these weak surfaces. It wouldn't take much to increase the danger significantly on slopes that currently hold sugary, weak, faceted snow (Mid/Upper elevations, NW-N-E). It was really nice to gallivant through steeper terrain during the tail end of this drought, however, I'm personally beginning the 'step back' process for this weekend due to forecasted snow totals. It's hard, but will be necessary, to go from Hero to Zero in terms of terrain selection.
Snowpack
No standard tests today. Solars are beaten from the sun and wind and are comprised of wind board and melt crusts. Surfaces on shady aspects are made up of 8-12" of weak sugary facets.
